Athina Dimitriadou

Athina Dimitriadou was born in Athens. She graduated from the Faculty of Philology of the University of Athens (1980). She taught Modern Greek Literature and History in various Greek high schools (1982-2000). She holds the Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English (1969). She has been translating literature since 1982. Among others, she has translated John Updike, Toni Morrison, Mark Twain, Evelyn Waugh, Richard Ford, J. M. Coetzee, Samuel Beckett, Herman Melville, Philip Roth, Colm Toibin.

She has been awarded 1. The Prize for English to Greek translation by the European Centre of Translation and the British Council for J. M. Coetzee's Life and Times of Michael K (2007), 2. The National Award for Translation to Greek for Philip Roth's Indignation (2010), 3.The prize of the Hellenic American Union for English to Greek Literary Translation for Alison Moore's The Lighthouse (2014).
