Ondřej Pilný is Associate Professor of English and Director of the Centre for Irish Studies at Charles University, Prague. His publications include Irony and Identity in Modern Irish Drama (2006), a critical edition of J.M. Synge’s works in Czech translation (2006) and seven edited collections of essays. He has translated plays by J.M. Synge, Brian Friel, Martin McDonagh and Enda Walsh, and Flann O’Brien’s The Third Policeman. He was a co-editor and co-translator of the first Czech dual-language anthology of Irish poetry, Vzdálené tóny naděje / The Distant Music of Hope / Ceol dóchais ó chéin (2000).
