Baiba Šustere
Baiba Šustere holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Optometry, University of Latvia, 2010, and a Master of Arts degree in English Philology, University of Latvia, 2012. During my studies I have become interested in two specific fields - psychoanalysis and literature - hence the title of my MA thesis was “Madness and Art in Timothy Findley’s novels Pilgrim and Headhunter”, for which I received the highest possible grade, 10, with distinction. The paper was also presented at the international interdisciplinary symposium The Anatomy of Un/Reason: The Birth of Mental Illness and its Fate in Postmodern Culture in Krakow, Poland, October 10-12, 2014. In 2011, during my MA studies, I took a part in an Erasmus programme and for five months I studied in Dalarna University, Sweden, where I studied Irish literature and poetry under the supervision of Dr Irene Gilsenan Nordin; and after acquiring my MA degree I moved to Ireland to deepen my knowledge and understanding of Irish culture. In addition, I have a published poem in “Miles To Go - Poetry Collection - Promises to keep Vol. 1”, 2013.
